Ardenwood Farm Family Photo Shoot

Posted on April 9, 2014

What a wonderful time we had at Ardenwood capturing images of this BEAUTIFUL family!  The day before was rain rain rain, but the sun came out for us and these adorable boys were able to enjoy exploring the park while we trailed behind taking pictures.  I love all the various options for backdrops in this park, including the gorgeous trees.

We went for a nostalgic feel for this picture of mom and her boys, with a touch of texture in the background.

We love shooting at locations that keep kids interested.  Ardenwood is a lovely place for that.

I hope our clients love these as much as we do.  The boys are just too cute!

Love love love these sweet mother/son moments.

It was great fun to see you all again (and to meet your littlest one).  We hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

Sweet, sweet siblings

Posted on October 27, 2013

Thank you to our new clients for sharing a fun few hours with us. We enjoyed meeting all 5 of you and capturing your sweet family together. We hope you love your sneak peek!

Our client asked for a walking away shot, and I’m so glad she did! I love this image. I love that they are wearing clothes that fit their personalities, that his shoes are untied, and that his sisters helped with that just after we took this picture.

Fun in the field

Posted on August 28, 2013

It’s the first week of school where we live, and as much fun as we had this summer, we are equally excited to return to our routine.  I’m even enjoying packing school lunches!  We hope your summer was fun and, if you have kids, the transition back to school is going well.  As we get back into the swing of things following our summer vacation, we wanted to share a few favorite images of one of our favorite families.

We found this perfect spot a few hours after I ran my first 5k .  My legs were Jello hiking around the hills in search of uncut fields, but it was worth it.  This was a fun session with lots of exploration and sweet family time.

I’ve always been a daddy’s girl. I loved to climb on my dad’s lap after dinner, our long talks on quiet mornings, and yes even the time we were on one of our vacation adventures and he made my brother and me walk in the rain uphill, hitch a ride in a pickup truck, and crash a party.  I cherished any time I could spend with him. I still do.

Thought I would share some pictures of my dad who has always been there for me.

An early father’s day note around the time I started writing my name in cursive.  Pretty fancy.

Dad on one of our adventures in our Westfalia pop up camper with his then-cutting edge video camera.  It was huge, but that did not stop him from getting those artistic shots from the grass.  I wonder where I got my love of photography…

Moving me (my big earrings and frilly bedspread) into the dorm.

Saying goodbye to dad and Dave before a summer in London.

I was so homesick that summer, but in their endless wisdom my parents encouraged me to go.   I remember waiting for the sound of the mail to drop into the apartment I shared with friends.  Mail came twice a day.  When a multiple page letter came from my dad, I cried like a baby.  I miss handwritten letters.  They are so much more personal and private than email.

College graduation

My parents having a good laugh with our eldest.

We are so lucky to have a father/grandfather who loves his family so much, yearns to learn and teach, and has always encouraged us to explore.  THANK YOU, dad. I love you!!!  Happy father’s day!

Thankful Thankful Thankful

Posted on November 21, 2012

Last weekend, I was thankful for theater with good friends and the opportunity to watch my kids soak in local arts with delight.  Today, I was thankful for the sound of Phillip playing our new piano while I worked from home, a sneak peek at the amazing 2012 video Phillip is lovingly creating (priceless!), and our lab’s amazing turnaround of holiday cards.  Tonight, I am thankful for the friends, family and clients who encourage our photography.  Thank you!!

And now, a sneak peek.  This is our third year capturing images of this cutie! We had fun chasing you, Lola! Hope you and your mommy enjoy these images. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

10 years

Posted on November 16, 2012

If you are lucky, this is what love and marriage look like after 10 years! (It also helps if you are as gorgeous as Lilly!) This session was a creative anniversary gift from Lilly’s sister. Can you tell we had fun? We love that a couple with two kids chose to have a full portrait session devoted to the two of them. We encourage more of you to do that. (It’s on my bucket list to do too. There are so many excuses, but 1-2 hours can result in treasures for a lifetime.)

Thanks, Lilly and Alex, for a very fun session. Wishing you many more wonderful decades together. We hope you enjoy your sneak peek (we could not narrow it down to just two or three pictures!)

Urban Photo Shoot

Posted on October 8, 2012

After a few years of park photo shoots, Karen wanted to mix it up a little bit. I love the modern, urban feel of this shoot. How adorable is this family?

It took a few minutes for the boys to warm to the idea of being photographed. First, they decided to escape – so they took off running along the water hand-in-hand (so cute)!

Within just a few moments they were back — running and dodging with lightning speed, hiding behind benches, and generally having a grand time.

They stopped running long enough for us to get these though. I love the tenderness of these images. A comforting hand to hold can mean the world…

By the end, they were VERY comfortable in front of the camera!

It was fun to see all of you and to capture images of your life in 2012. We hope you enjoy your sneak peek!!

Sprinkles of Stardust

Posted on September 5, 2012

Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do. Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children. — Alex Haley

What an honor it was to take these pictures. Four cousins, two loving grandparents, cuddles, laughter, magic tricks, reading a story together — the makings of stardust. We hope you enjoy your sneak peek! Big hugs to all of you from both of us.
